‘The Marriage’ by K L Slater

“Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him.” When the cover of a book declares that kind of storyline, who can resist reading it!

Bridget is marrying Tom, twenty years younger and in prison for delivering a fatal punch to her eighteen-year-old son. Their marriage is a secret until the day of his release and sparks fly as the couple navigate reactions to this news. The relationship between the two mothers, first friends and then torn apart by grief and blame, is pushed to breaking point when they face each other as in-laws.

The narrative is very contrived so you are constantly driven to find answers to all the questions this scenario raises. A gripping read, but not exactly believable.
